Research and develop ideas to add at least 4 interactive elements to your final magazine print layout. The interactive content should be relevant to your magazine subject and target audience.

Audience: 

Owners and managers of startups, growing private companies and small businesses. Fairly affluent 30–50-year-old college-educated individuals, mostly male, mainly in the USA.

Solution: 

In coming up with ways of expanding the static print layout with additional engagement, I decided to go the infographic route. Infographics are perfect for presenting quick facts in a playful and impactful manner and are a widely used tool within a corporate context. After researching the type of content I could use, I created an illustrative infographic presenting positive facts about the impact of women-owned businesses, which pops up triggered by the word “Innovators”. The infographic continues the play on disruptive visual cues, keeping in line with the original print layout, but in a more playful way. I created 6 more pop-up windows triggered by the thick vertical lines on the layout. These pop-up windows present a diverse group of female entrepreneurs. Clicking on the associated vertical line takes the user to each entrepreneur’s business website. The thick horizontal line triggers a QR code leading to Inc. magazine’s Female Founders 200. I delivered 10 separate interactive elements, all marked in a warm yellow colour, providing a consistent theme for the user and amplifying their experience with an alternative engaging layout containing plenty of additional value and information.
